Fado is a special style of music– it balances between Portuguese blues, tango, and flamenco. Already for a long time Ana Moura is considered to be the fado star in her montherland Portugal. Not only in the homeland – her creative activities enchant the listeners in Paris and New York. Portugalians describe her: there is no other voice like hers and there will never be one like that. Ana Moura sings fado in a contemporary manner, still not disparaging the traditions. Coversely, she keeps them live and developed. Journalists say: the vise, deep and melancholic voice of Ana Moura is better to be heared not described.
Ana Moura was born not too far away from Lisabona and has grown up in the environment saturated with fado. There is no wonder that she begun singing the songs at the age of six. Later, as every teenager, she became passioned for pop music and rock, but still dreaming only about fado. Ana was 20 years old when she was heared by the owner of Senhor Vinho fado club Maria da Fe. Not hiding the excitement, she invited the joung woman to work in her club.
Together with fade, Ana conquered the love. Her fist album „Guarda-me a Vida na Mão” was released in 2003. After this, the singer became loved by whole Lisabona. After the second album, Portuguese admitted: yes, this is a unique personality who is able to unite imperturbable traditions with a very personal attitude and the understanding of a contemporary genre. After the release of her trird album, the whole world started talking about her.
In 2005 she performed in Carnegie Hall, as well as – with the music band Rolling Stones for the very first time (they still keep their friendly collaboration live). At that time, Tim Rise himself composed the song for Ana that was incorporated in her album „Para Além da Saudade”. This album has received the Amalia Rodrigesa Award. But the fourth of her albums „Leva-me aos Fados” received the Platinum Disc directly after the releasing. It has became one of the best world-music albums of the year 2009.
The fifth album „Desfado”, was released in 2012. It has gained the Platin Disc status in Portugal.
