The first advent was musically fulfilled with the concert “The First Advent” with a participation of the new musicians, soloists, and choirs from Rēzekne and Rīga performing the melodies of Christmas Holiday Season in the sounds of piano, organ, and chamber orchestra.
The concert program was prepared by the Riga Dome Choir School, Rezekne J. Ivanovs Music School, and Rezekne Chamber Orchestra (conductor Jānis Stafeckis). During the concert the compositions for soloists, choir and chamber orchestra by E. Dārziņš, C. M. Widor, S. Rachmaninov, R. Stivriņa, J. Vaivods, V. Pūce, H. Pavasars and others were performed. The audience was delighted with the composition of R. Dubra „Tu skaistuo Dīva duorza rūze”, that was performed before by Rezekne J. Ivanovs Music School mixed choir (conductor Anda Lipska) in the finale of the literary musical production “Francis” as well. The children choir of Rezekne J. Ivanovs Music School sang the Christmas lullabyes. The culmination of the concert was reached with the cantata of Ē. Ešenvalds “Ziemassvētku vakarā” and the cantata created by composer living in Rezekne – I. Rupaine – in dedication to this celebration time.
The cooperation between Rezekne J. Ivanovs Music School and Riga Dome Choir School was formed couple of years ago. There are numerous collaboration concerts held in Rīga and Rēzekne. During the holiday concert on November 30, the musicians of both schools will meet on the stage of the Embassy of Latgale GORS for the very first time.
