On May 22, at 19.00, at the Embassy of Latgale GORS, a place will take the celebration of Juris Kulakovs birthday as well as the concert of the legendary music band „Pērkons”.
„Pērkons" still keeps carrying on the national self-confidence and still sounds like they did in `80`s, when rock was holding the nation to the hope. More than thirty years ago in one of the midnights, Ieva Akuratere had a dream, that the newly created music band should be named “Pērkons” (the Thunder) and the lightning of this “Pērkons”, gardens and some romantic rain hit the target and is still doing that even today. The band “Pērkons” will perform on the stage of the Embassy of Latgale GORS for the very first time.
„Pērkons” is probably the most titled music band in Latvia – two Three - Star Order Officers – Ieva Akuratere has also received the medal of the “Draudzīgā Aicinājuma Fonds” and Juris Kulakovs who is also the Honor Citizen of Livani city. Three of them are the Honor Citizens Jurmala city and all of them – have received the Barricades Remembrance Medals.
Music band „Pērkons” will offer to their listeners the songs loved by the public and collected during their creative work, including „Zaļā dziesma”, „Slidotava”, „Labu vakar”, „Dziesma par sapumpuroto zaru”, „Gandrīz tautasdziesma”, „Mana dienišķā dziesma” and many other.
„Pērkons“ will perform in the band`s full composition – Juris Kulakovs (keyboard), Juris Sējāns (bass, vocal), Leons Sējāns (solo guitar), Ieva Akuratere (vocal), Raimonds Bartašēvics (vocal) and Ikars Ruņģis (drums).
The concert in the Embassy of Latgale GORS will be the one to rung in the Kulakovs Night, that will take a place on August 22, on the Open-Air Stage of Ogre city. This year marks the 30 years since 1985, when after the legendary concert on the Open-Air Stage of Ogre city, the fans of the music band in the burst of the emotions gained during the concert, demolished two passenger trains as the protest against the Communistic ideology. This was the event, when in the context of the music, the name of Ogre city had sounded the loudest. And now, after these years, “Pērkons” will be performing again on the Open-Air Stage of Ogre city. In the Kulakovs Night, on the Open-Air Stage of Ogre city will also perform the friends of the music band "Pērkons".
After the concert, a place will take the band`s CD sale and the band members will be giving the autographs as well.
