On May 13, a historic postal carriage, created from the samples of the 19th century, stopped for a while at the driveway of the Embassy of Latgale GORS. The expedition paused their way in Rezekne in order to receive the good travel wishes from the leaders of the city and to provide an opportunity for every attendant to take a look and some pictures of the historic ride.
The carriage, with 4-yoked horses, drove through Rezekne city within the project „Pasta ceļš Latvija-Lietuva-Polija” (“Postal road Latvia-Lithuania-Poland”). This was the ancient postal road of the imperators from Saint Petersburg to Warsaw. There was a postal station in Rezekne as well, now replaced with some other buildings. Carriages had an opportunity to stop by one of the symbols of the 21st century in Rezekne city – the concert hall.
The expedition was organized by the public organization „Klajūnu klubas”, but the curator of the project is the premier minister of the Republic of Lithuania Aļgirdas Butkjavičus. Particularly, the idea to drive the ancient roads in the carriages – is unique. The media, especially in Lithuania and Poland, dedicate a lot of their attention to this project. Furthermore, during the expedition it is planned to film and direct a documental movie “The Diary of the Postal Road”, even more – everyone who will come to the welcoming event, may become it`s actors. It is expected that the film will be submitted to the international film festivals and screened in various television channels.
