Personal exhibition Latgale’ Rhapsody continues to fill the interest regarding the material and intangible world relations, as well as develop sculpting language and creative signature. This time, as the source of creation itself announced the nature, people, history of Latgale, as well as its unique spiritual space. Even dough I am not genetically, or by confession related to this area, I surely sharply process impulses of the spiritual energy produced and transferred from this world and soil. All of the most interesting and in its future perspective the most valuable things happen in marginalia, border zone, physical or mental. Latgale is our frontier not only in geographic, but also spiritual sense.
The structure of the exhibition is built on three central objects created from the wood – the large format sculptures, each of which symbolizing one of three basic elements important to my existence – the spirit, matter, and human, as the union of these concepts; as well as the central art piece of the exhibition with the name of “The Large”. Unknown, the bronze sculpture of the horse rider, symbolizing the unpredictable future.
Rhapsody wasn’t chosen unintentionally – this format of music perfectly corresponds with the form and the essence of my conception. Rhapsody is quintessential exchange of different types of episodes based on a folksy vocal material. I would like to emphasize the fact that the content of the exhibition does not present obvious ethnographic motives. It reveals them through emphasis and association.
