On November 14, in the Embassy of Latgale GORS was organized the competition of Latvian Cultural Canon. It`s focus for the year 2014/2015 is on the culture traditions in a family. 11 teams from the schools of Latgale region took a part in the regional round of the competition.
The goal of this competitions is to promote pupil`s interest about the values and traditions of Latvian culture that are kept and cultivated in a family environment, in different heritage regions of Latvia, as well as to stimulate the interest about the values and traditions that are included / not included in the list of Culture Canon, as well as popularize the study subjects of culturology, humanities and social sciences.
The achievement of the school teams in Rēzekne were judged by the team of experts: Jolanta Treile – Director of the Cultural Policy Department of the Ministry of Culture, Linda Rubena – the Expert of Traditional Fine Arts of Latvian National Center of Culture, Agnese Hermane – Docent of Latvian Academy of Culture, Ilmārs Latkovskis – Deputy of Saeima of Latvia Republic, Sandra Mežore – Director of J. Ivanovs Rezekne Music Scool, Sandra Stare – the Leader of the Folk Friend’s Ensemble “Vīteri”, Edgars Blinovs - The Head of Ozolaine Parish Council, Film Director and an alternative jury – of two representatives of Rezekne City Youth Council.
The process of the regional competition was enriched with the performances of the Folk Friend’s Ensemble “Vīteri” in the leadership of Sandra Stare and Einārs Lipskis.
Rugāji Region Secondary School won the first place, Krāslava State Gymnasium earned the second place, but the third place was gained by Bebrene Professional Secondary School.
The competition was supported by LR Ministry of Culture, the Embassy of Latgale GORS, Daugavpils Theatre, Café “Ausmeņa Kebabs”, Latgales Druka Printing House, farm “Kurmīši”, “Latgales ziedi” Ltd, and “Lekon” Ltd.
