Culture events in May and June

Unusual contemporary dance performance from China, the tradition of the LNSO season closing concert, new concert program performed by „Latvian Voices”, a very special concert in honor of Imants Kokars and other events of the culture program at the Embassy of Latgale GORS in May and June.      

 

 

Ziedonis and Lācis offer an opportunity for the women to meet and touch, for those who might otherwise never meet. In the concert participate: Rēzija Kalniņa, Ilze Ķuzule-Skrastiņa, Ieva Segliņa, Dārta Daneviča, Dita Lūriņa, Inese Kučinska, Agnese Jēkabsone, Aija Andrejeva, Aija Vītoliņa, Jolanta Strikaite. Musicians: Kārlis Lācis, Gints Pabērzs, Kaspars Zemītis, Ainis Zavackis, Jānis Stafeckis, Artūrs Noviks, Kaspars Grigalis.

 

"Swan Lake" is the ballet of ballets and has always gained the exaltation of the audience. This production unites the beautiful music of Tchaikovsky and the genius choreography of Petipa and Ivanov. As a magnet, the fascination of the Swan Lake draws the dreamer, prince Siegfried. Odile, looking exactly like the beautiful swan princess Odette, lusts for this young man. The battle, the injury of beloved Odette, the victory over the evil – is only an illusion… 

 

“Contemporary Dragon Kungfu Company“ was founded by the world famous Kung Fu star Jackie Chan in 2006. In the dance style of the company is united the traditional Chinese martial art with the contemporary dance technique and the martial practice, in which could easily be recognized the unique acrobatic fighting style of Jackie Chan. 

 

The film director`s personal story about his father`s death due to the campaign of the KGB repressions are closely linked to the display of tricky game of the Soviet Latvia against the Swedish-British-American spy agencies. The film story is created of the destinies of people that for the various reasons and motivations have become the players of this game.

 

This feature film screening in a half an hour gathers the most outstanding materials from the concerts, interviews and adventurous moments of the musician Mārtiņš Freimanis` life. Alongside with the bright side of his life, it reveals the bitterly moments, closely connected with his childhood and the relationship with parents.

 

The performance was announced to be one of the best achievements in the contemporary dance of the theatre season 2012/2013. “Inside” is a dance requiem to love and the desire to live. Every attendant will have an opportunity to hear and listen to his or her heartbeats, as well as experience the unprecedented transformation of the Big Hall and the enjoyment of the event. Choreography by Dmitrijs Gaitjukevičs. Participating: Liene Grava, Elīna Breice, Ģirts Bisenieks, Aivars Gailums, Aldis Liepiņš and Ivars Broničs.

 

More than 90 dancers will perform 23 new choreographies in the genres as hip-hop, show dance, jazz funk, vogue, salsa and other, while meeting on the stage of the Embassy of Latgale GORS Big Hall for the third time.  

 

A theatrical performance about an unusual girl, based on such a beloved story by Astrid Lindgren – Miss Longstocking. Producer - Dita Balčus, Set by Ināra Gauja, Composer – Mārtiņš Brauns. Actors – Egija Silāre, Jānis Mūrnieks, Kristiāna Abiļeva, Enriko Avots, Atis Bētiņš and Aīda Ozoliņa.

 

Returning to… music, conversations, roots and values, singing about this in songs and telling in jokes. The returning can be different – for musicians, it could be a comeback to the songs created by themselves, in their opinion being the best ones. It will be returning in specific cities, coming back to the values.

 

Autobiographic documental “detective”, in which the director of the film follows the happenings of the 90`s. This was a time when her father – a president of the flat broke bank – disappeared without a trace. The father is on the lists of the “Interpol” already for sixteen years. Without success. However, the news coming from the “Interpol” reveals the information about the person who has entered the psychiatric clinic in Kuala Lumpur using the personal data of the missing man.

 

Together with the celebration of Juris Kulakovs` Birthday, music band “Pērkons” will offer to their listeners the songs collected during their creative work and loved by the public. In Rezekne, “Pērkons” will perform in the band`s full composition – Juris Kulakovs (keyboard), Juris Sējāns (bass, vocal), Leons Sējāns (solo guitar), Ieva Akuratere (vocal), Raimonds Bartašēvics (vocal) and Ikars Ruņģis (drums).

 

Under the lead of the conductor Andris Poga, Latvian National Symphonic Orchestra will close their concert season with the compositions of Sergey Rachmaninoff, Jean Sibelius and Vilnis Šmīdbergs. In the concert will participate the outstanding violinist Vineta Sareika.

 

The personal exhibition of the paintings of the artist Jeļena Antonova. J. Antonova was born in the family of artists, grew up and studied in Rezekne. She has graduated from the Latgale branch of the Latvian Academy of Arts, receiving the Bachelors and Masters degree. Currently working as a teacher of the visual arts and leading a private arts studio. The opening of the exhibition will be held on May 3, at 12.00.

 

 

This year will be no exclusion – the attendants will have an opportunity to see the best short films from the last year`s 2 ANNAS film festival, united under the program PROJECTOR 2015. The program showed in Rezekne is composed by the films for the children and youth, with the screenings of 6 short films produced in Latvia, Lithuania, Serbia, Canada, Netherlands and Hungary.

 

The world famous Latvian vocal group “Latvian Voices” will perform in Rezekne with the premiere of their new concert program “Beyond the Boundaries”. With the program, they invite to overcome a daily conceptions, made through the time by us and the world around.    

 

Singer, actress, TV show hostess and an ex-member of the music band ВИА Гра (Via Gra) Vera Brezhneva with the show program „The Love Will Save the World“, performing live the singles "Любовь спасёт мир", "Доброе утро", "Реальная жизнь" and other well known hits in a combination with some new compositions. Together with the singer, on the stage will perform a professional music band and a dance crew.

 

The pearls of the concert programs by Maestro Imants Kokars in a concert “Be Greeted, the Sun!” will resound the VIII Song and Dance Celebration of the Northern and Baltic Countries. In the concert will participate Riga chamber choir “Ave Sol”, Choir of Latvian Conductors, under the lead of Uldis Kokars and Roberts Liepiņš, men choir “Dziedonis” and Rezeknes men choir “Graidi”.

 

In the first part of the concert the leading soloists of the Lithuanian National Ballet and the ballet dancers of the Latvian National Opera will perform the classic ballet pearls from the ballet performances as „Tristan and Isolde”, „Giselle”, „Le Corsaire”, „The Sleeping Beauty” and „Diana and Actaeon”. The second part of the concert will reveal the exclusive author work „The Originals” by the Latvian National Opera, ballet and theatre prima – ballerina Margarita Demjanoka. The author of the idea and costumes of the performance is the outstanding ballet dancer herself.  

 

The goal of the project is to find and highlight the beautiful, talented and active children living in Rezekne city. The competition final show attendants will have an opportunity to see and evaluate the work that has been done during many weeks. All together, in the competition participate 16 children of the age group from 7 to 10 years. At the finale will be nominated ''The Queen and the King of Rezekne 2015''.

 

The Exhibition of the qualification works by the students of the Arts Education program of the Rezekne School of Art and Design. Displayed works are made in different genres (still life, landscape, cityscapes, the domestic scenes and other) in the form of stylized paintings.
