Culture Events in February

February at the Embassy of Latgale GORS will begin with the magnificent guest performances  – two musicals performed by the Belarus State Academic Musical Theatre. As a continuation will be presented the concert tour of music band “Astro’n’out“, solo concert of Daumants Kalniņš, as well as the jet of laugh at the comedy “Cave Man”. The end of the month, however, will bring annually awaited event – Latgalian Culture Award „Boņuks“ award ceremony. 
 
Musical for Children and Adults “Buratino“
Saturday, February 6th 11.00, Great Hall, 7,00–15,00 €
"Buratino" is a bright and captivating musical with unusual music by Aleksaner Ribnikov, performed by Belarus State Academic Musical Theatre. The performance will gift a joy not only to the children, but also to their parents, who surely remembers well the film shot more than 30 years ago – “Buratino’s Adventure”.
 
Musical “Shalom Aleichem! Peace be with You, People!“

Belarus State Academic Musical Theatre performance "Shalom Aleichem" ("Шалом Алейхем! Мир вам, люди!") has been created based on "Milk Carrier Tevje"("Тевье-молочник"), the motives by Shalon-Aleichmen and Gregory Gorin performance “Memorial Prayer”.

Concerts will reveal the best songs of the band in new and unusual arrangements, as well as will give a peak into the material of the new music album. The performance of the band will be enriched by the friend of many years and producer DJ Rudd.

Spanish mime Carlos Martinez will reveal to the audience the poetical magic of silence through the performance dedicated to the theme of love. For more than 32 years, Carlos Martinez has developed his skills, in order to communicate with the audience all across the world in an easy and open way. His art includes the viewer in to the heartfelt and open conversation, but the developed technique empowers him to create a wide variety of contradictory images.
 
Friday, February 19th 16.00, Great Hall, 3,00 €
“Dance Parade” is a contemporary dance competition in which participate not only the beginners, but also professional dancers in the age group 5-35 years. For the second time, Rezekne will be the place gathering more than 300 dancers from all over Latvia, competing for the GRAND PRIX of the competition. Audience will have an opportunity to enjoy the choreography of hip-hop, show dance, and contemporary dance. Performances will be judged by the professional jury. 
 
Saturday, February 20th 19.00, Great Hall, 8,00–15,00 €
Concert program unites not only classics of the Latvian bandstand, but also the popular songs of the nowadays. Concert will present the compositions of Raimonds Pauls, Arnis Mednis, Mārtiņš Brauns, Zigmars Liepiņš, Imants Kalniņš, Aleksandrs Kublinskis and others. As the stage partners of Daumants will perform Mārcis Auziņš (guitar), Toms Poišs (contrabass), Rūdolfs Dankfelds (drums).  
 
Sunday, February 21st 17.00, Great Hall, 8,00–15,00 €
“Cave Man” is an amusing truthful play about the communication between a men and women, allowing the audience to pleasantly laugh about both genders. The reason for the great popularity and success of the play is the fact that each of the person in the audience in any of the stories told will somehow recognize themselves.
 
Tuesday, February 23rd 18.00, Great Hall, 10,00–20,00 €
Jubilee evening of the Russian National Artist, writer, poetess, and lyricist Larisa Alexeyevna Rubalskya. Songs with her lyrics have been performed by Alla Pugacheva, Filip Kirkorov, Mihail Boyarsky, Irina Allegrova and others.

Exhibition opening of Roberts Mužs, the first receiver of Jāzeps Pīgoznis Prize, professor of Latvian University, well-known and important representative of Latvian landscape painting. This event will also mark the opening of the art exposition-gallery of the Embassy of Latgale GORS.  
 
Sunday, February 28th 16.00, Great Hall, 3,00 €
The first part of the ceremony will present a musical performance produced within the festival „ORGANisms” – „Sun. Children. Rainis”. The second part, however, will be dedicated to the award ceremony with Boņuks statuettes being handed for the achievements in Latgalian culture in 2015, in total of 19 categories.
